Sam provides expert criminal defence against traffic charges in the Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court and other courts in Melbourne. He is based at our Broadmeadows office and also handles other criminal offences.
Sam Cooper was previously part of the Law Institute of Victoria's Criminal Law Section. While working with senior members of the legal profession, he wrote submissions to the state government on matters related to criminal law policy. His skills on oral advocacy was honed as an intern at the Victoria Legal Aid, appearing in the Special Circumstances List at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court. He was also a volunteer with the Prison Legal Education & Assistance (PLEA) Project carrying out seminars on Court Practice and Procedure information to new arrivals at the Metropolitan Remand Centre. Sam strongly believes in the criminal justice system needing to be fair to everyone in the community including the accused. He also understands the injustice that may fall upon people who are not properly informed in the ways of the legal system. It has become his advocacy to protect the rights of his clients and to ensure that they understand all options available to them, and guide them to what could result in the best possible outcome in court. Sam Cooper graduated with a law degree from the University of Melbourne. He completed his Practical Legal Training at the Australian National University and was admitted to legal practice in February 2018.
