Paul McClure appears on a daily basis in the Magistrates', County and
Children's Courts in Victoria in pleas of not guilty/contested hearings,
bail applications, committal hearings, appeals, driver licence
restoration hearings and pleas of guilty. He has also had a lot of
experience instructing barristers appearing for his clients in trials at
the County and Supreme Courts. As a solicitor, Paul has gained
particular experience acting for clients with psychiatric or psychological
conditions, and intellectual disabilities. He is well respected by his
clients and amongst his peers, both solicitors and barristers, who view
him as a dedicated advocate. Paul also works as a volunteer solicitor at the Broadmeadows Community Legal Centre. Paul enjoys the challenge of trying a difficult case, and invests a great deal in ensuring that his clients’ best interests are protected. Paul represents his clients with passion and professionalism. Prior to coming to the law, Paul worked for 12 years as a registered nurse, predominantly in the area of intensive care nursing, and he brings this knowledge and experience to his work as a criminal defence lawyer. Paul’s interest in the law was piqued while he was working as a nurse, and he decided to return to study to fulfill a desire to become a criminal defence lawyer. Paul studied law part-time at Monash University, whilst working as a nurse, completing his Juris Doctor in 2004. For a time he was the face of the Monash Postgraduate Degree Program. While studying, Paul worked voluntarily as part of the administrative staff at the Mental Health Legal Service. Paul also has a keen interest in psychology, and has an undergraduate degree in that field. Paul has been a member of the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) since before his admission as a lawyer, and is a member of the Young Lawyers section of the LIV. Outside of work, Paul enjoys learning Greek, reading, travelling and digital photography. |
